Getting Started Guide

The following guide walks you through taking a course with CodeUpdate4U.com. Each screenshot thumbnail will expand to a full-sized image when clicked. Yellow arrows indicate areas or links of special interest.

Begin Enrollment

From the homepage, click the Signup Now button.

Create Account

On the right side of this screen, click the "Create New Account" button.

Complete Account Registration Form

Fill out this form completely. Pay special attention to the the Site Policy agreement at the bottom!

Confirmation Email Sent

This screen indicates that a confirmation email has been sent to your account. Check your email, including any spam or junk mail folders. If you haven't received the email within 1 hour, please contact us.

Account Confirmation Email

You must now click the link in the email to fully activate your account. We apologize for the inconvenience but this step is necessary for to make sure that we have a good way to reach you should the need arise. Again, if you have any problems, don't hesitate to contact us.

Account Confirmed

This step lets you know that your account is now confirmed. You may continue on to the next step.

Select Course

Next, select the course into which you want to enroll. In the event you wish to take more than one course, just select the first one here. You can enroll in the others later.

Confirm Course Selection

This step confirms that this is the course you wish to purchase. Once you are sure that this is the course, click the Send Payment Via Paypal button.

Pay for Course

On this screen, login to PayPal if you wish to use your PalPal account. If not, click the "Don't Have a PayPal Account?" link, where you can complete the purchase using any major credit or debit card. As there are a variety of different payment options, we aren't going to go through them all here. PayPal includes some excellent on-screen help and you can always contact us for assistance.

PayPal Course Completion

Once you complete your PayPal payment (via either credit card or PayPal account), you will be shown a confirmation screen. Also, you should receive an email receipt. To enter your course, click on the yellow "Click here to enter your course" button.

Begin Your Course

After a brief redirect page, you will land on the main page for your course. Be sure to complete each lesson over the required time limit. Virginia DPOR requires you spend 50 minutes reviewing the course materials per course hour. So, for the three hour Mechanical/HVAC update, there is a 150 minute timer on the course. You can, of course, spend more time than this, if needed.

Complete Course Test

After reviewing the lessons, take the course test. In order to pass the course, you must score a 70% or better on the exam. Don't worry, you have up to five attempts to take the course, after which, contact us. We will work with you to ensure that you pass!

Get Certificate

Before exiting the course, be sure to click on the Course Completion Certificate link. This generates your certificate, which you may (and should!) download and/or print for your records. This also verifies for us and DPOR that you have met both the test score and course time requirements. Once you see your certificate on the screen, you are complete!
